UX Design • Full Stack Web Development • 3D Microsite Concept
Every One Remembered was an ambitious project run by the Royal British Legion to commemorate every one of the 1.1 million fallen servicemen and women of the British Commonwealth in World War One. I developed the original website and a 3D concept to show the stories and images collected.
The project involved taking a 100-year-old database of soldiers and finding a way to create an interface which was user friendly to all ages. The website had to be sensitive to the topic, but effective in gathering as many commemorations as possible. I originally led full-stack development on the website, and later worked on the UX design for a new version.
After the project neared its four-year end, RBL wanted a way to showcase the extensive collection of commemorations and stories. I built a 3D visualisation where all of the commemorations form together to make that recognisable poppy symbol. I developed this in Three.js.
Every One Remembered was one of the biggest acts of remembrance ever seen. Over four years the project collected over one million commemorations and over 200,000 stories and images that would otherwise had been forgotten from living memory.
Every One Remembered won best charity and not for profit project of the year at The Digitals.
